Industrial and food-grade sodium hexametaphosphate with standardized technical indicators. Chemical name is Sodium Hexametaphosphate, molecular formula (NaPO₃)₆, molecular weight 611.77, CAS number 10124-56-8. Physical Properties

The product appears as colorless transparent flaky, foliated glass or floating sand crystalline powder. It features strong moisture absorption and gradually absorbs ambient moisture to form viscous substances when exposed to air. The product is freely soluble in water, and insoluble in ethanol, ether and other organic solvents. It has a melting point of 616℃ with thermal decomposition characteristics and a relative density of 2.484g/cm³ at 20℃. The aqueous solution can form stable complexes with calcium, magnesium and other metal ions.

Application Scope

Widely applied in food processing and industrial water treatment scenarios. In food manufacturing, it acts as a quality improver, pH regulator, chelating agent, binder and swelling agent. It stabilizes natural pigments in canned beans, fruits and vegetables, emulsifies fat in canned meat, improves the water retention capacity of meat products and prevents fat deterioration. It also serves as a clarifying agent for beer to eliminate turbidity. For industrial use, it functions as a high-efficiency non-precipitating water softener.
